Preserving our cultural heritage in the digital age
For a hundred years, the Edelweiss Village, located in British Columbia, Canada were home to Swiss mountain guides who led the “Golden Age” of mountaineer tourism in BC and have been a symbol of mountain culture in Canada. But as redevelopment threatens to eradicate the cultural heritage, what can we do to preserve the stories of the village and honour our past?
Over the past year, Conexkt has partnered with Colla Films, OSA-Canada, and the University of the Fraser Valley to introduce to you: Forgoing, a 10-minute documentary. This short documentary raises awareness and outlines the future of the Edelweiss Village is set to premiere online Friday, November 5th, 2021.
But it does not stop there.
Conexkt is now working closely with the Golden Museum to identify methods of preserving the cultural heritage of the Edelweiss Village digitally.
